  1. King philip was a Wampanoag chief after his brother, Wamsutta, was captured and imprisoned in Plymouth for 3 days and died while. This was one of the reasons the King Philip's war, the colonists were also expanding into indian territory which was a promise to not do that. This meant war and he wanted to drive the colonists out of New England witch he failed to do. It showed that America could be independent and did not need help from britain. Native americans and colonists after this war did not have a great relationship causing future wars such as the French and Indian war and till this day many native people do not like americans. Also many indian tribes were genocide because of this war.

  2. King Philip was actually named, Chief Metacom, chief of the Pokanokets, which were a part of a larger Wampanoag Indian Federation.

The war was started by the Indians as a way to push the Colonists out of New England. It was their last ditch effort to get them out.

This war caused an even greater divide between the colonists and the natives, the people began to notice the true differences between the two people.

    2. When the colonist first arrived they noticed the differences between themselves and the native american control. Which is why they were forcing christianity on them.

  4. King Philip was a Indian chief of the Pokanoket people. His real name was Chief Metacom.
The Indians started the war so they could try to finally rid themselves of the colonists in New England.
The war created a greater rift between the Indians and the colonists. Eventually there would be another war between the two sides, the French and Indian war.

  5. King Philip was a chief of the pokanokets. The Native americans were responsible for the war, and it was to drive the colonist off their land. The colonist came in and claimed the land, bringing their cattle with them. The cattle ate the crops the native americans needed to survive causing the native americans to dislike the colonist. Also the colonist forced christianity on the pokanokets. An destroying any records before that so a whole culture was destroyed. Now no Native american who might be Pokanokets can prove it cause records were destroyed.. I just think its disgusting on what America's history is built on the genocide and enslavement of others. This coming from someone who is Native american and Black.

  6. King Philip was a Native American chief for the Pokanokets. The war was waged against the colonists when they started taking over the Native American land. The land the colonists were taking were crucial to Pokanokets and that set them off immediately. The battle started early on but did not heat up until the colonists executed three of King Philip's men. Since this war, and even before, there have never been good relationships with Native American tribes. When the colonists actually won the battle, it paved a way for genocide, racism, and enslavement. America was built on these roots because if the colonists had never won the war, there may have not been a New England but it also showed just how brutal they could be.

  7. King Philip was a Chief to the native Pokanket people. The people responsible for King Philip's war were the european colonists who invaded and stole the native's land. The main motive of this war was the possession of land. The Europeans stole the Pokanoket's land based on their own european laws, which led the Pokanoket people to fight back and reclaim their land. American identity was formed from stealing what was not theirs and continued to stay like that for many years. This brought a feeling of superiority and racism to a country that was thriving for many years before the europeans. Natives and Colonists never had a good relationship after that because the colonists could not take their greed away to form a lasting alliance that could have been more beneficial to America.

  9. King Philip was the Chief of the Pokanokets and Wampanoag. His real name was Chief Metacom. The war was started by the Native Americans because the colonist were expanding into their territory and they wanted to push them off their land. The Natives eventually lost the war and the the relationship between the groups became even more strained. The war had a great influence on American identity because it claimed their independence and ability to fight. However the conflict between Natives and colonists still led to greater conflicts and problems. To outsiders American identity was formed by stealing and deception.
